Where the Real Medicine Happens: Our First Change of Season Wellness Workshop
Share
There's something special about gathering around a table, one filled with good food, conversation, laughter, and the soft scent of simmering herbs. Yesterday marked the very first Change of Season Wellness Workshop, an idea that's been growing quietly alongside my eBook, Change of Season Wellness - Autumn & Perimenopause.
When I first imagined these gatherings, I thought it would be all about the making, the syrups, the tinctures, the recipes. But as the day unfolded, I realised something I've always known: the real medicine isn't in the jars. It's in the food, the company, and the calm that comes when we slow down.
πΏ A Gathering of Women and Herbs
The morning began with warmth, not just from the stove, but from the laughter that filled the room as everyone arrived and settled in. We shared food that celebrated the season and nourishment as medicine:
- Garden pesto
- Lemon balm and sun-dried tomato hummus
- Sprouted seeds, nuts, cheeses
- Carrot and cucumber sticks
- Jugs of lemon balm-infused water and cucumber-infused water
- Pots of herbal tea that kept hands warm and spirits lifted
π Making Medicine the Old-Fashioned Way
Once everyone felt grounded, we moved into the hands-on herbal making. Together we created:
- Elderberry & Rosehip Syrup, rich, dark, and immune-supportive
- Hawthorn Brandy, a warming heart tonic
- Red Clover & Lady's Mantle Tincture, for women's wellness through hormonal change
As the elderberries simmered, we talked about each herb, how they work and why they matter. There was something deeply grounding about it all, stirring the pot, sharing stories, and watching the air fill with cinnamon, star anise, and clove.
β Food, Rest, and Reflection
When the jars were filled and labelled, we returned to the table for what might have been the most important part, a moment of rest.
We poured more herbal tea, enjoyed nettle lemon drizzle cake and energy bites, and talked about what wellness really means.
It's not about quick fixes or perfect routines. It's about connection, to nature, to our food, and to ourselves. It's about noticing the change of seasons not just in the weather, but in our own bodies and lives.
